When Jon is Away

After 25 years of work travel, here are the things I can typically count on each time Jon is away:

~ A weather situation/warning/emergency

~ At least one medical appointment for the kids

~ A dinner disaster

~ At least one evening professional commitment

~ Losing hot water, electricity, or both

~ A meeting or event for one of the kids

~ A mid-week bakery special order

~ A unique event at work that requires extra time outside of school

~ A poop situation

We are only on day 2 of his trip this week and we are already at 8/9 but the lights are flickering so this could become 9/9 quickly.

In an AP position I held long ago, I used to joke that whenever the Principal was offsite, something significant would happen like closing school early due to weather and calling every family before loading buses (before fancy notification software we have now) or having to call for an ambulance or Mercy Flight.

What are some things that always seem to happen when your partner or coworker is not around?
