What Is Going Well?

April 27, 2022

When you are in the middle of a really hard few weeks, but you have therapy and hair appointments scheduled back to back at just the right time, you can take a breath and remind yourself of the good, of the ways you have shown up, of the positive moments to help regain balance and perspective.

It’s easy to talk about gratitude but sometimes it’s hard to actually do it when everything feels overwhelming. Taking this time helps me remember that it’s not all overwhelming. There is a lot of good that is sometimes hard to see and remember in the moment.

So, I’m going to try and be intentional about stopping and asking myself, “What has gone well?” at regular intervals throughout the day moving forward. I may even set alarms to remind myself at first as I work to build up this practice.

Want to do this with me? Let’s start right now! In the comments, write what has gone well for you today. I’ll start.

Today, I was fully present with my kids when I was home with them. Today I was honest about my feelings and received compassion in return. Today I flowed with changes in my kids schedule. Today I taught a student about re-grouping and re-acclimated myself to throwing a football. Today I watched one of my children bloom. Today I saw how excited my son was to have blue gel added to his hair. Today I was an e-bay queen. Today I let some things go that I normally would have run around doing. Today I felt some creative flow return.
