Shoutout - Crisis Support Teams

November 11, 2021

Shout out to all of the school psychologists, school counselors, and administrators who are the first to respond to student crisis calls.

This year, more than others, has been especially intense.  So many rely on this team to help de-escalate and support children during intense circumstances.  There can be a lot of pressure on them to help, to fix, to solve.

The reality is children come to school with trauma (us as adults do, too), each child and circumstance is different, and no one has all the answers.

The best things we can do are to

  • keep showing up for our kids and each other

  • keep talking and working as a team

  • keep working together with families

  • keep the best interest of the child at the forefront

  • keep asking questions

  • keep acknowledging we are all doing the best we can

  • keep recognizing no one has all the answers

  • keep asking for help when we need it

  • keep taking care of ourselves

  • keep taking care of each other

  • keep lifting each other up

Consider showing some gratitude to the school support team members in your world this week.
