Twinning From Afar
March 17, 2022
It’s been two years since we wore these dresses.
Since Leah and I twinned.
We had just sent the kids home for what we thought would be two weeks. We planned for four. Just in case.
Our school team worked tirelessly together, quickly creating accessible, thoughtful, and meaningful learning opportunities for kids while they were home. We divided and conquered. We did amazing things for kids. For their families. For each other.
Even though on this day, two years ago, there were only a few of us in the building making piles of packets for children without internet access, Leah and I still wore the outfits we had been planning for weeks. We still found joy and had fun with those around us.
These dresses are a reminder of teamwork, of resilience, of hope, of joy. And a little (or a lot) exhaustion.
It was the last time Leah and I wore matching outfits. Until today.
This year we are physically separated. But today we “twinned” from afar. Two points on opposite ends of the same line.
And while we are one long stretch of highway apart and part of our hearts are together in the middle, we know that everyone on our team then and everyone on our teams now continue to embody that same teamwork, resilience, hope, and joy that shone so bright two years ago.
