Parenting Reality
April 16, 2023
People often show the good side of life on FB. The highs, the celebrations, the proud moments.
But this is not true for everyone all of the time. And only seeing this side as we scroll through our newsfeed can make us think this is the reality for everyone else except us.
So here is some realness for you.
Parenting is tough. Parenting is raw and real and hard right now for us. It has been like this for about three years.
We are so grateful for our children and love them with every piece of us. It is a gift to be fully in the parenting arena during positive and hard times.
And,
we also know from first-hand experience that when two parents parent in two different ways during the hard times, it can be lonely and adds an extra layer of hard on top of the already hard.
It’s easy to let the judgement and resentment creep in. And there’s grief and anger and hurt and fear.
We work to be intentional about communicating. About processing things. About working through things. About being proactive whenever we can. About being on the same page.
And sometimes we just aren’t all those things.
Our own traumas and hang-ups and conditioning and beliefs and experiences and patterns get in the way.
Even when we know better.
And,
we keep trying because it is so important to keep showing up for our kids and for each other.
If you are in a hard phase of parenting, whether you are in a relationship with your parenting partner or not, please know you are not alone.
