Notes to Self - All The Concert-Going Tips

August 13, 2023

Since I really am a concert new-by who has now fallen in love with going solo, I have created a list to remind myself of how I showed up this week and want to keep showing up for concerts in my future.

-If you love the artist, buy the ticket. Buy it right away. Buy it from Ticketmaster. Save all your pennies and buy it as close as possible. Being in the “spit zone” is totally worth it!

-Fill up your gas tank before you go. And leave a book in your car.

-Stop drinking liquids a few hours before you leave to minimize trips to the Port-a-Potties.

-Make sure your phone is fully charged.

-Wear something with pockets. And layers. And something you can dance around in.

-Consider your footwear carefully. Those boots or heels may look super cute but don’t allow for maximum jumping.

-Put bug-spray on before leaving.

-Pack light. Just the basics that will fit in your pockets - cash, card, car keys, phone. Maybe ID if needed. That’s all you need. And security will be a breeze.

-Plan a less-traveled path to the venue. Clutching a stick-shift in stop-and-go traffic is no fun.

-Trust that the venue lot will be open. It probably will be. It will all be fine.

-Don’t worry if you think you are late because of traffic. Chill. There is an opening act. You will get there with plenty of time.

-Get the merch first. Skip the lines later and get what you want.

-Make new friends. Be open to new connections.

-Don’t worry what other people may think of you. You are there for you. Sing your heart out! Live it up!

-Don’t rush to leave. You can either wait in traffic or watch the wonder of tear down. Security will eventually ask you to leave and that’s okay.

-Just chill in the parking lot until the line is gone. Soak in the parking lot energy. Read if you want.

Take your time. Take it all in. Breathe deeply. Experience the magic.
