Clara Claus
December 25, 2022
For those wondering if I only wear festive clothing at school, the answer is no .
I wore one of my “Mrs. Claus” outfits last week that brought on a lot of conversation.
It started with my curiosity about her first name. After checking Google and Snopes.com, we learned there is not agreement about what her name is.
So we named her Clara. It seems fitting. And it has a ring to it.
We all assume Clara loves to bake, wrangle elves, and care for reindeer. But all of that seems wrapped up in her husband’s vocation. It may be fulfilling to her. It may not. We don’t know. But we have decided that she is a woman whose identity is not rooted in another person.
My guess is Clara loves to do things beside holiday prep. I’ve gotten a lot of input about this and here is what we have come up with.
Clara enjoys solo travel. In an airplane. She goes to Hawaii each January and swims in the surf. Her closet does not solely consist of red velvet. She also has bathing suits and sundresses and pantsuits. She plays the ukulele and loves dancing and art. She gets regular pedicures and attends music festivals. She is pretty hip!
This is your reminder that you are your own person. That your worth is not wrapped up in someone else, in what you do for someone else, or who you are for someone else.
You are amazing you. Period.
P.S. I’ve loved looking at all of your holiday pics and am using them as research to make our family PJ decision for next year! Drop your favorite family PJs pics in the comments for more inspiration for everyone. Bonus points if you include where you got them!
